LEGO Ninjago Cole’s Tread Assault Review (LEGO)

What It Is

The LEGO Ninjago epic—and toy line—continues with Cole's Tread Assault. The story behind this 286-piece set finds General Skales attempting to stop Cole from taking the golden Hypnobrai staff with its powerful anti-venom. Kids help Cole by constructing a souped-up assault vehicle. The front of the car features a launching rock shooter and two removeable ninja blades. Press the button at the back of the car and six blades will pop up all around the car. The rear wheels have two ninja spinner crowns that can be attached to LEGO Ninjago Spinners (sold separately), an opening cockpit, and a flip function—turn the car over to enter into ninja stealth mode. The building set includes two minifigures—Cole ZX and Skales—and one mini snake.

Is It Fun?

LEGO has done an incredible job expanding the Ninjago world into characters, expanded storylines, and outstanding products. Cole's Tread Assault is a great new addition to the LEGO Ninjago line. Kids can have a great time building the set and engaging in hours of open-ended, narrative-based play.

Who It’s For

LEGO Ninjago Cole's Tread Assault is for ages 8–14.

What To Be Aware Of

Cole's Tread Assault comes with two assembly booklets that have step-by-step instructions to walk builders through the building process. This building set might take some time to put together, but no matter how long it takes you to build, remember that building is part of the fun of LEGO.

When we pressed the button at the back of the car, some of the blades didn't pop up as well as others. The rear wheels also don't move very well when the vehicle is flipped over in "ninja stealth mode".
